Ana Silvera “Oracles”

This exclusive short film, directed by Kate Church for PORT documents the development, arrangement and premiere of singer-songwriter Ana Silvera’s most recent work, Oracles

We follow Ana as she develops, arranges and premières the songs for Oracles in this short film directed by Kate Church, and speaks candidly about the role music played as her “salvation” following the death of her brother.

Ana Silvera is an operatically-trained multi-instrumentalist from North London. Her music is informed by fairytales and folklore and is often written through historical and fictional personas. Citing Barbara and Jacques Brel, literature and classical styles as influences, and with a stellar back-catalogue of collaborators including Brad Albetta, Ray Singer and Jeff Langston to add to her inspiration, her narrative is lively, her voice powerful and her mood haunting.

Ana Silvera’s star is firmly in ascent and, with a collaboration with the Estonian Television Girls Choir and a confirmed gig at The Roundhouse main stage scheduled for 2012, the only way is up.
