Whether one finds themselves in the camp of eagerly anticipating the arrival of autumn or reluctantly mourning the rather damp last days of summer, the hour has arrived to shift our gaze towards the imminent season. To your relatively unworn linen trousers, we can only apologise, but after what has been a fairly underwhelming sunshine season (in so much that there was minimal sunshine), we’re ready to jump boot first into the impending cascade of leaves and the ubiquitous scented candles that go hand in hand with Fall. The ‘ber months may signal the start of sky-high heating bills to come, but they also happen to bring with them a whole new reason to get excited about getting dressed for the day. Though stowing away our summer shirts and dresses may elicit a pang, the siren call of cold weather clobber is nigh irresistible. Sumptuous and tactile jumpers to accompany skirts and denim. Cardigans, poised to layer over tees and printed shirts that refuse to hibernate. Lightweight jackets, versatile companions to all ensembles, ready to emerge from the wardrobe's shadows – staving off the need for a winter coat for a few months yet. Yes, arguably, autumn's fashion reigns supreme.
Yet despite the cooler seasons’ penchant for lush fabrics and heavyset items, you might be surprised to hear that some of our favourite early autumn wear comes courtesy of a popular high street haunt – Uniqlo.
